Description
Fullerene C60 (SOL5060) – High-Purity Carbon 60 for Electronics & Bio-Pharma
Fullerene C60 (CAS: 99685-96-8) is the primary starting material and n-type semiconductor utilized in organic photovoltaics (OPV), perovskite solar cells, thermal evaporation systems, and bio-pharma R&D. Manufactured by Solaris Chem and shipped under inert nitrogen in amber glass vials, SOL5060 is available in regular, solvent-free eZeSol™, certified USP, and sublimed grades with purities up to 99.99%+.
Available High-Purity C60 Grades
Regular Grades (0.1 – 0.5% Residual Solvents)
- Grade 99.00% (SOL5060B): High-purity grade for standard chemical synthesis.
- Grade 99.50% (SOL5060A): High-purity grade for baseline R&D.
- Grade 99.90% (SOL5060Z): High-purity grade for advanced device fabrication.
Solvent-Free Grades (eZeSol™ Series)
- Grade 99.50% (SOL5060X): Solvent-free high-purity synthesis grade.
- Grade 99.90% (SOL5060W): Solvent-free high-purity grade.
- Grade 99.95% (SOL5060Y): Very high purity for standards and bio-pharma R&D.
- Grade 99.95% (SOL5060YN) – CERTIFIED USP: Certified USP grade for pharmaceutical applications.
- Grade 99.99% (SOL5060YY): Ultra-high purity grade for sensitive formulations.
Sublimed Ultra-High Purity Grades
- Grade 99.99% Sublimed (SOL5060S): Solvent-free, sublimed ultra-high purity grade for thermal evaporation and precision standards.
The eZeSol™ Solvent-Free Advantage
Our eZeSol™ process subjects pristine C60 fullerene to controlled heat-cooling cycles under dynamic inert medical nitrogen. This completely suppresses oxidation, removes volatile solvents, and enhances dissolution dynamics:
- Toluene Dissolution: Dissolves/disperses in a few seconds to minutes (up to 3 g/L).
- o-DCB Dissolution: Dissolves/disperses in a few seconds to minutes (up to 24 g/L).
- Olive Oil Solubility: Achieves 0.8–1.0 g/L in 3–5 days (compared to 2 weeks for standard C60 powders).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the difference between regular and eZeSol™ solvent-free C60 grades?
Regular C60 grades contain 0.1–0.5% residual volatile solvents suitable for standard organic synthesis. eZeSol™ solvent-free grades undergo controlled inert thermal processing to remove all volatiles, enabling ultra-fast dissolution in solvents, oils, and bio-pharma R&D applications.
In what optoelectronic and biological applications is Fullerene C60 used?
Fullerene C60 serves as an n-type semiconductor, electron acceptor, or interface layer in organic photovoltaics (OPV), perovskite solar cells, thermal evaporation systems, photodynamic therapy, antimicrobial/antiviral surfaces, and bio-pharma research.
